You actually live here?

One of the most often asked questions of our staff is, "Do you really live here?" While some of our family are here on summer vacations from college, a good many of us live in the beautiful Low Country year round.

We now have a permanent population of about 30,000 citizens. Some are lucky enough to have retired here. Others, believe it or not, actually work here, just like any other community.

We do have a few problems like massive absenteeism during the final rounds of the MCI Golf Classic (we actually close our schools then), but we're just pretty normal folks.

By the way, the typical islander's response to that question is "Well, somebody's got to do it."
